Spice and tea combo tested for stomach troubles
NCT ID NCT07052890
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a supplement containing curcumin, green tea, and vitamin D could help control symptoms in people with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). 78 adults with IBS-D took either the supplement or a placebo for 4 weeks, followed by 4 weeks where everyone got the supplement. The main goal was to see if symptoms like belly pain and bloating improved more with the supplement than with placebo.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
a dietary supplement containing curcumin, green tea extract, and vitamin D3
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a natural, over-the-counter option to help control IBS-D symptoms like belly pain and diarrhea.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 78 people and a short 4-week treatment period, so results may not apply to everyone. Supplements are not strictly regulated, and individual responses can vary.
