NCT ID NCT05683145

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests a guided online version of cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia in 80 people who have had a moderate or severe traumatic brain injury at least a year ago and currently have insomnia. Participants will either receive the online therapy (6 modules over 6-9 weeks with support from a mental health professional) or continue with their usual care. The goal is to see if the online therapy improves sleep and quality of life, especially for those who may not have easy access to in-person treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
guided online cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia
What this could lead to
If it works, this could provide an accessible, effective treatment for insomnia in people with moderate/severe traumatic brain injury, improving recovery and quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small early-stage study (80 participants) comparing the therapy to usual care, so results may not apply to everyone. The therapy requires internet access and self-motivation, which may limit its effectiveness for some.
