Blood test may catch pelvic cancer relapse sooner
NCT ID NCT03739775
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether a blood test that detects tumor DNA can find early signs of cancer returning in people treated for HPV-positive pelvic cancers (like cervical or anal cancer). Researchers will take blood samples from 172 patients during regular follow-up visits. The goal is to see how well this test works at spotting relapses before symptoms appear.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this blood test could help catch cancer relapses earlier, potentially improving treatment outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The test may not be accurate enough for routine use, and results may not apply to all patients.
