Chill out chemo nerve pain: cold wraps plus compression tested in new trial
NCT ID NCT06139458
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether using cold wraps plus compression (cryocompression) on hands and feet during chemotherapy can reduce nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) in people with gynecologic cancer. About 190 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either cryocompression or cold wraps alone. The goal is to see if the combination is better at preventing numbness, tingling, and pain, and if it's tolerable for patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
cryocompression (cold wraps plus compression therapy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, non-drug way to prevent or ease nerve pain from chemotherapy, improving quality of life during cancer treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a mid-sized trial testing a non-drug approach, so results may not be dramatic or apply to all patients. The benefit over cold therapy alone is uncertain, and tolerability varies.
