Dental implant study to reveal if abutment width keeps jawbone healthier

NCT ID NCT07196228

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at how the width of the part that connects a dental implant to a crown (the abutment) affects bone loss around the implant. Forty adults who need a single tooth replacement will get an implant placed slightly below the bone. They will be randomly assigned to receive either a narrow or regular-width abutment. Researchers will measure bone changes using X-rays over 24 months to see which size leads to better bone stability.
