COPD study seeks to personalize steroid treatment using blood markers

NCT ID NCT06334575

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 21, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study aims to understand why some COPD patients benefit from inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) while others do not, by looking at molecular changes in the body. Researchers will enroll 135 former smokers with stable COPD who are already on dual bronchodilators. Participants will be grouped by their blood eosinophil levels and randomly assigned to receive ICS or continue usual care, with samples taken to identify molecular signatures.
