Cooling dialysis fluid may shield brain health in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT07377500
First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tests whether cooling the dialysis fluid slightly (to 0.5°C below body temperature) can help preserve thinking and memory in people with kidney failure who need regular hemodialysis. About 356 adults from three hospitals will be randomly assigned to standard or cooled dialysis. After one year, researchers will compare changes in memory and thinking to see if the cooled approach offers brain protection.
