Pilot study explores Placenta-Sparing option for deadly pregnancy disorder

NCT ID NCT05139498

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This small pilot study tested whether leaving the placenta in place after delivery (conservative management) could be a safe alternative to hysterectomy for patients with placenta accreta, a condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the uterus. Only 4 participants were enrolled, and the main goal was to see if a larger study comparing these two treatments is feasible. The findings will help doctors and patients make more informed decisions about care.
