Precision needle aims to ease jaw pain in new trial

NCT ID NCT07306936

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a computer-guided needle technique combined with a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for people with a painful jaw joint condition called temporomandibular disorder (TMD). The goal is to see if the computer-guided method improves jaw function and reduces pain better than the standard free-hand technique. Twenty-four adults who haven't improved with other treatments will be followed for three months after the procedure.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a more precise, less invasive treatment for jaw joint pain and clicking, potentially improving function and recovery.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage trial with only 24 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure still carries risks like infection or temporary discomfort.
