Could a monthly shot beat daily pills for lung sarcoidosis?
NCT ID NCT07668895
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests if a monthly injection of Compound Betamethasone (Diprospan) works better than daily prednisone pills for people with early-stage pulmonary sarcoidosis. About 126 participants will receive either the injection or pills for 24 weeks, with lung function tests and scans to track progress. The goal is to see if the injection improves breathing and controls the disease with fewer side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Compound Betamethasone (Diprospan) injection
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a more convenient treatment option for early pulmonary sarcoidosis with fewer pills and potentially similar or better control of the disease.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial with only 126 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The drug may not be more effective than standard prednisone, and injections carry their own risks like infection or allergic reactions.
