Safer injection for neck pain? study tests new Ultrasound-Guided method
NCT ID NCT07275320
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compared two injection treatments for neck pain caused by cervical radiculopathy. Seventy adults who did not get better with standard care were randomly assigned to receive either an ultrasound-guided retrolaminar block or a fluoroscopy-guided epidural injection. The goal was to see which method provides better pain relief and safety over 12 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
bupivacaine and steroid injection
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that a safer, ultrasound-guided injection works as well as the standard fluoroscopy-guided method for neck pain relief.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 70 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The new technique may not be as effective as the standard one.
