Laser vs. ultrasound: which zaps Crow's feet best?
NCT ID NCT01529983
First seen Jul 01, 2026 · Last updated Jul 02, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study compares two FDA-approved cosmetic procedures—fractional laser and high-intensity focused ultrasound—for treating wrinkles around the eyes (crow's feet and lower eyelid lines). About 20 adults aged 35–60 with moderate wrinkles will receive one treatment on each side of the face, and doctors will compare results at 1 and 3 months. The goal is to see which method works better and is preferred by patients.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- 1550-nm fractional laser and high-intensity focused ultrasound
- What this could lead to
- If one method proves clearly better, it could become the preferred option for treating crow's feet and lower eyelid wrinkles.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small early-phase pilot study with only 20 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Both procedures can cause temporary redness, swelling, or discomfort.
