Village health workers slash adult mortality in groundbreaking 18-Year study
NCT ID NCT07436104
Summary
This large, long-term study tested whether trained village health workers could reduce deaths among working-age adults (16-60 years) in remote tribal villages in India. Over 72,000 participants were involved. The program provided education, basic treatment for common diseases like high blood pressure, diarrhea, and pneumonia, and referrals to hospitals. The goal was to see if this community-based approach could lower the death rate in this age group by at least 30%.
