New cocktail of drugs aims to tackle tough colorectal cancer

NCT ID NCT07106034

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This phase 2 trial is testing whether adding two immune-boosting drugs (ongericimab and toripalimab) to standard second-line chemotherapy can shrink tumors in people with advanced MSS/pMMR colorectal cancer. The study enrolls 32 adults whose cancer progressed after first-line treatment. Participants receive one of two chemotherapy regimens depending on their prior treatment, plus the two study drugs and bevacizumab. The main goal is to see how many patients respond, with secondary goals including how long the response lasts and overall survival.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Ongericimab, toripalimab, bevacizumab, and chemotherapy (FOLFOX or FOLFIRI)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a new second-line treatment option for people with a hard-to-treat form of colorectal cancer that has stopped responding to initial therapy.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-phase trial with only 32 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. The combination of multiple drugs also raises the risk of side effects.
