New combo therapy aims to tame painful skin condition
NCT ID NCT07554014
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether combining an anti-IL-17A/F antibody (bimekizumab) with a non-ablative fractional laser can safely reduce symptoms of mild to moderate hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic skin condition causing painful lumps. Fifty adults will receive the combination every 4 weeks for 16 weeks, with blood and skin samples taken before and after treatment. The main goal is to see if at least half of participants achieve a 50% reduction in inflammatory nodules and abscesses without worsening.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Bimekizumab (a monoclonal antibody) plus non-ablative fractional laser
What this could lead to
If it works, this combination could offer a new way to control hidradenitis suppurativa symptoms with fewer side effects than current treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 50 participants and no comparison group, so results may not apply broadly. Side effects from the drug or laser are possible.
