NCT ID NCT07517848

First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at whether starting a colonoscopy with the patient lying on their back (supine) or on their left side (left-lateral) makes a difference. 198 adults having a colonoscopy were randomly assigned to one of the two positions. Researchers measured how long it took to reach the end of the colon, how much pain the patient felt, and how difficult the procedure was for the doctor. The goal was to find out if one position makes the procedure easier or more comfortable.
