This pilot study is testing whether the anti-inflammatory drug colchicine can lower inflammation and reduce the risk of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) after coronary artery bypass surgery. 24 adults scheduled for bypass surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either colchicine or a placebo, starting 5 days before surgery and continuing for 10 days after.
