Brain-Body combo training tested for stroke and moyamoya recovery

NCT ID NCT07144930

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study explores whether a training program that mixes cognitive tasks (like memory and attention exercises) with physical therapy can improve recovery in people with post-stroke cognitive impairment or Moyamoya disease. Researchers will also use brain imaging to see how thinking and movement are linked. The trial involves 210 participants and compares the combined training to motor training alone over 4 weeks, with follow-ups up to a year.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Cognitive-motor incorporated training (MCIT) program

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a more effective rehabilitation approach for people with stroke or Moyamoya disease, potentially improving both thinking and movement.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage study with a small number of participants. The training is short (4 weeks), and results may not apply to all patients. There is no guarantee the combined training will outperform standard motor training alone.
