First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This large study tested whether taking daily cocoa extract (from the cocoa bean) and/or a standard multivitamin could lower the risk of heart disease and cancer in older adults. Over 21,000 men and women aged 60+ took the supplements for several years. Researchers tracked heart attacks, strokes, cancer diagnoses, and related deaths to see if these common supplements offered any protection.
