New study aims to cut repeat strokes by optimizing cholesterol treatment

NCT ID NCT07256171

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study will follow 500 people who recently had a stroke or mini-stroke to see how well they stick with cholesterol-lowering treatments like statins and diet changes. Researchers want to learn how many patients reach their LDL cholesterol goals and whether better control reduces the risk of another stroke. The goal is to find ways to improve everyday care after a stroke.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could identify gaps in cholesterol management after stroke, leading to better treatment guidelines and fewer repeat strokes.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test a new therapy. Results may vary across centers and may not apply to all patients.
