First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests whether bempedoic acid, a cholesterol-lowering drug, can reduce artery inflammation and improve heart health in people with HIV who are on effective treatment. About 121 adults aged 40 and older with controlled HIV and at least one heart risk factor will receive either the drug or a placebo for 52 weeks. Researchers will use advanced imaging to measure changes in artery inflammation and plaque buildup.
