New lens implant aims to sharpen vision at all distances
NCT ID NCT06401551
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a newer trifocal lens implant (Clareon PanOptix Pro) against an older one (Clareon PanOptix) in 71 adults having cataract surgery in both eyes. Each person got one of each lens, so their eyes could be compared directly. The goal was to see if the newer lens provides better distance, intermediate, and near vision without glasses.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- intraocular lens (IOL) implant
- What this could lead to
- If the newer lens works better, it could offer sharper vision at all distances after cataract surgery, reducing the need for glasses.
