Computer nudge aims to catch silent kidney disease in diabetes patients
NCT ID NCT05342545
First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study tested whether a computer alert in the medical record system could prompt doctors to order a simple urine test for kidney disease in people with type 2 diabetes. Many patients with diabetes have early kidney damage but don't know it. The study involved 400 adults at one hospital who had not had the recommended urine test in the past year. The goal was to see if the alert increases testing and leads to earlier diagnosis.
