Computer nudge boosts kidney testing in diabetes patients

NCT ID NCT05342545

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tested whether a computer alert in the medical record system could prompt doctors to order a urine test for kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes who hadn't had one in the past year. About 400 adults from primary care and specialty clinics took part. The goal was to see if the alert increases testing and leads to earlier diagnosis of chronic kidney disease.
