First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether a daily chromium picolinate supplement could reduce the severity of acanthosis nigricans (dark, thick skin patches) and improve insulin resistance in 90 adolescents aged 12-18. Participants took either chromium or a placebo for 24 weeks. Researchers measured skin changes and insulin resistance at regular visits to see if the supplement worked better than placebo.
