New registry aims to improve meningitis treatment for kids
NCT ID NCT07062445
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is creating a registry of 600 children under 18 with meningitis treated at hospitals across Brazil. Researchers will collect data during and after hospitalization to see how well current treatments work and what long-term problems, like hearing loss, occur. The goal is to use this real-world information to improve national care guidelines.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better national guidelines for treating childhood meningitis, potentially reducing deaths and long-term complications.
What could go wrong
This is an observational registry, not a treatment trial, so it won't directly test a new therapy. Results may vary across hospitals and may not apply to other countries.
