Summary
This study tests a 12-session virtual training program for foster and kinship caregivers of children aged 2 to 9. The program teaches positive parenting skills through group discussions, videos, and role play. Researchers want to see if it reduces caregiver stress and prevents child behavior problems compared to usual support services. 300 caregivers in Ohio are being recruited.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Chicago Parent Program for Foster Care (CPP-FC) – a group-based behavioral training program for foster and kinship caregivers
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could give foster caregivers practical skills to reduce stress and prevent behavior problems in young children, improving long-term outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a behavioral intervention trial with 300 participants, not a drug study. Results depend on caregiver engagement and may not apply to all foster care settings.
