Gum and cold water: surprising relief for bronchoscopy throat pain?

NCT ID NCT07517926

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests two simple, low-cost methods—chewing sugar-free gum or gargling cold water—before a bronchoscopy to see if they reduce sore throat and swallowing difficulty afterward. About 100 adults scheduled for diagnostic bronchoscopy will be randomly assigned to one of these interventions or standard care. Researchers will measure pain and satisfaction levels to determine if these easy steps improve patient comfort.
