Can a simple spray soothe Post-Surgery throat pain?

NCT ID NCT06676748

First seen Aug 06, 2026 · Last updated Aug 07, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether a benzydamine throat spray, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, can reduce sore throat after surgery that uses a breathing tube. About 106 women undergoing gynecological surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the spray or usual care. The study will compare how many women have a sore throat right after surgery and four hours later, as well as pain severity and any side effects.

benzydamine hydrochloride spray
What this could lead to
If effective, this over-the-counter spray could become a simple, low-cost way to reduce throat pain after surgery, improving comfort during recovery.
