Freezing vs. heating nerves: new battle against combat chest pain

NCT ID NCT07380789

Summary

This study is testing two minimally invasive procedures to control severe chest pain in adults who have suffered combat-related chest injuries in Ukraine. It aims to see if using extreme cold (cryoablation) or controlled heat (radiofrequency ablation) on specific nerves is better at reducing pain, improving breathing, and decreasing the need for opioid painkillers. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two procedures, and their pain, medication use, and recovery will be closely monitored.
