Can we predict chemo nerve damage in kids? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07326930
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study follows 173 children aged 8 to 17 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia who are receiving a chemotherapy drug called vincristine. Researchers will measure nerve damage at several points during treatment and look for factors like symptoms, nutrition, sleep, and activity that might predict who will have more severe problems. The goal is to understand patterns of nerve damage so doctors can better support children during chemotherapy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could help doctors predict which children are at higher risk for nerve damage from chemotherapy, allowing for earlier monitoring or adjustments.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly improve outcomes, and the findings may not apply to all children or chemotherapy regimens.
