NCT ID NCT05317585
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to standard fingerstick testing in 180 pregnant women with type 2 diabetes. The goal is to see if CGMs reduce the number of large babies and improve blood sugar control. Participants will use either a CGM or traditional fingerstick checks throughout pregnancy.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Continuous Glucose Monitor (device)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that using a continuous glucose monitor helps pregnant women with type 2 diabetes have healthier babies and better blood sugar control.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small trial (180 participants) and results may not apply to all pregnant women. The device itself is low-risk, but improved outcomes are not guaranteed.
