Can a smart monitor help control diabetes? new study tests CGM in community clinics
NCT ID NCT07097415
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) helps adults with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar better than traditional finger-prick testing. About 600 participants from two community health centers in China wore a CGM device for three 2-week periods over 24 weeks. The main goal was to see if their HbA1c levels improved. The study also looked at how easy or hard it is to use CGM in everyday community care.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that CGM helps people with type 2 diabetes better manage their blood sugar and improve quality of life in community settings.
What could go wrong
This is a completed pragmatic trial with 599 participants, but results may not apply to all populations. CGM devices can be costly and require training, and the study does not test a cure.
