Real-Time glucose monitor may help type 2 diabetes patients without insulin
NCT ID NCT07298850
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and seeing real-time blood sugar readings can help people with type 2 diabetes who don't use insulin improve their glucose control. For one week, participants wear the device without seeing their numbers; the next week, they see their levels and trends. Researchers compare the time spent in a healthy blood sugar range between the two weeks to see if just having the information makes a difference.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance

What this could lead to
If it works, this could show that simply viewing real-time glucose readings helps people with type 2 diabetes better manage their blood sugar without needing extra training or medication changes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 120 participants and a short two-week monitoring period. The results may not apply to all people with type 2 diabetes, and the improvement might be small or temporary.
