Immunotherapy boost before surgery may improve sinonasal cancer outcomes

NCT ID NCT07281417

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding the immunotherapy drug cemiplimab to standard chemotherapy before surgery helps people with sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma. About 108 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either chemo alone or chemo plus cemiplimab before their operation. The study aims to see if the combination improves event-free survival and tumor shrinkage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
cemiplimab (an immunotherapy drug) plus carboplatin and paclitaxel (chemotherapy drugs)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could lead to a more effective treatment before surgery for sinonasal cancer, potentially reducing recurrence and improving survival.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 2 trial with only 108 participants, so results are preliminary. Adding immunotherapy to chemo may increase side effects, and the benefit over chemo alone is not yet proven.
