Could a cell cocktail stop type 1 diabetes before it starts?
NCT ID NCT06688331
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jul 17, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of special immune cells (Tregs) and a drug (rituximab) can delay or prevent type 1 diabetes in children aged 6–16 who are at high risk but still produce insulin normally. About 150 participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups, including placebo, and followed for up to five years. The goal is to see if the treatment can keep blood sugar levels normal and delay the onset of diabetes.
