New device could reduce deadly transplant complication in blood cancer patients

Summary

This study tests a device that filters out certain immune cells from donor blood before a stem cell transplant. The goal is to lower the risk of graft-versus-host disease, a serious complication where the donor cells attack the patient's body. About 50 adults with myelodysplastic syndrome will take part. The study is currently on hold.
