Could a simple CT scan after stent surgery save lives?
NCT ID NCT07009418
First seen Nov 25, 2025 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a follow-up CT scan of the heart's arteries, done one year after stent placement, can reduce the risk of heart attacks, death, or other major heart problems compared to usual care. It will include 3,500 high-risk patients who have had a stent placed. The goal is to see if this extra imaging helps doctors catch and treat issues earlier.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Coronary CT angiography (CCTA)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that routine CT scans after stent placement help detect problems early and reduce heart attacks or deaths.
What could go wrong
This is an observational comparison, not a treatment test. The results may not change practice if CCTA leads to unnecessary procedures or anxiety without clear benefit.
Conditions
The condition(s) this trial relates to.
As listed by the trial registrant
The condition terms exactly as the trial's registrant entered them.
