Heart scan may predict who stays in rhythm after ablation

NCT ID NCT07651046

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a special CT scan (CCTA) of the heart can predict if atrial fibrillation will come back after a standard ablation procedure. Researchers will scan patients before their first ablation and then follow them for a year. The goal is to see if heart structure and function measurements can better identify who will benefit most from ablation.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could help doctors identify which AF patients are most likely to benefit from ablation, improving treatment decisions.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study with no participants enrolled yet. It only looks at prediction, not a new treatment, and may not change practice.
