Modern meds may slash stroke risk in carotid stenosis patients

NCT ID NCT05300737

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether newer medications (like statins and modern blood thinners) can keep stroke risk below 5% in people with narrowed carotid arteries who have already had a mini-stroke or stroke. Researchers are tracking 114 participants for one year to see how well current drug-only treatment works. The goal is to update old guidelines based on treatments from 30 years ago.
