New PET scan could spot rare heart disease faster

NCT ID NCT05184088

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special PET scan using a radioactive tracer called [18F]Florbetaben can accurately diagnose cardiac AL amyloidosis, a rare condition where abnormal proteins build up in the heart. About 200 adults with suspected cardiac amyloidosis will receive one injection and a PET scan. The goal is to see if this imaging method can reliably detect the disease compared to standard biopsy and other tests.
