Carbon fiber screws could improve spine surgery imaging

NCT ID NCT06209684

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether carbon fiber screws work as well as titanium ones for spinal fusion in people with degenerative disc disease. Carbon fiber allows clearer MRI and CT scans after surgery, which may help doctors monitor healing better. About 118 adults needing one or two levels of fusion will be randomly assigned to receive either carbon or titanium screws. The main goal is to check bone fusion rates after 12 months.
