Experimental CAR-T therapy takes on tough leukemia
NCT ID NCT07617285
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing a new type of CAR-T cell therapy, called CT0890B, for people with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that has come back or not responded to treatment. The therapy uses donor-derived immune cells that are engineered to target a protein called NKG2DL on leukemia cells. Up to 27 participants will receive the cells along with chemotherapy, and researchers will monitor safety and any signs that the leukemia is reduced.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
allogeneic CAR-T cells (CT0890B) plus chemotherapy conditioning
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for patients with hard-to-treat acute myeloid leukemia who have run out of standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a very early phase 1 trial with only 27 participants, so safety and effectiveness are not yet proven. CAR-T therapy can cause severe side effects like cytokine release syndrome.
