Canadian trial matches cancer drugs to gene mutations
NCT ID NCT03297606
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether giving cancer patients a targeted therapy that matches a specific gene change in their tumor can help shrink or control the cancer. It includes 720 adults with advanced solid tumors, multiple myeloma, or non-Hodgkin lymphoma who have no standard treatment options. Participants receive one of several targeted drugs based on their cancer's genetic profile.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Olaparib, Dasatinib, Nivolumab plus Ipilimumab, Axitinib, Bosutinib, Crizotinib (targeted therapies)
What this could lead to
If successful, this trial could show that matching targeted drugs to a patient's specific gene changes helps shrink or control advanced cancers that have not responded to standard treatments.
What could go wrong
This is a phase II trial, so it is still early. The drugs may not work for many patients, and side effects could be serious. Results may not apply to all cancer types.
