Simple bedside check may predict who needs emergency treatment for sepsis

NCT ID NCT07658014

First seen Jun 18, 2026 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 526 adults with sepsis who had normal blood pressure to see if a simple measure called the diastolic shock index (DSI) and a blood test for lactate could predict which patients would need medication to support their blood pressure within 6 hours. Researchers analyzed existing medical records to compare patients with high DSI to those with normal DSI. The goal was to find a way to identify hidden blood vessel problems early, without any extra tests or tasks for participants.
