New eye drops could bring relief to millions with chronic dry eye
NCT ID NCT06903611
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Phase 3 trial tests whether CAM-101 eye drops can reduce eye discomfort and corneal damage in people with moderate to severe dry eye. About 475 adults will receive either CAM-101 or a placebo for 9 weeks, then all participants can switch to CAM-101 for a year. The study aims to see if this treatment improves symptoms and eye surface health better than a placebo.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
CAM-101 (fibrinogen-depleted human platelet lysate eye drops)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with moderate to severe dry eye, potentially reducing eye discomfort and improving corneal health.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage Phase 3 trial, so results are not yet known. The treatment may not work better than placebo, and there could be side effects like eye irritation or infection.
