NCT ID NCT04886869
First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study measured how caffeine from coffee and energy drinks affects the autonomic nervous system—the part of your body that controls heart rate and other automatic functions. Twenty healthy adults were monitored using ECG (heart electrical activity) after consuming caffeine. The goal was to understand if caffeine disrupts normal autonomic balance, which could help explain why some people feel jittery or have heart palpitations.
