Can a targeted antibody boost chemotherapy against a rare leukemia?

NCT ID NCT03264131

First seen Jul 29, 2026 · Last updated Jul 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether adding a targeted drug called brentuximab vedotin to standard chemotherapy can help people with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL), a rare and aggressive blood cancer. The combination, known as BV-CHEP, aims to improve response rates by targeting a marker called CD30 found on cancer cells. The trial enrolls adults with ATLL and measures how many achieve complete remission after treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a combination of brentuximab vedotin and chemotherapy drugs (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, etoposide, and prednisone)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a more effective treatment for a rare and hard-to-treat cancer that currently has no standard therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply to all patients. The combination includes strong chemotherapy drugs, which can cause significant side effects.
