NCT ID NCT07435077

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study will compare two pain medications, buprenorphine and oxycodone, in about 282 adults with injuries to at least two body areas. The goal is to see which provides better pain control with fewer risks. Participants will receive one of the two drugs as part of a standard pain management plan.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ€” not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
buprenorphine and oxycodone
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that buprenorphine is as effective as oxycodone for trauma pain, potentially offering a safer alternative with lower risk of opioid misuse.
What could go wrong
This is a phase 4 trial, but it's not yet recruiting and results may not apply to all trauma patients. Pain relief is subjective, and individual responses vary.
