New moms may ease stitching pain with breastfeeding, VR, or a stress ball

NCT ID NCT07510477

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at three simple methods—breastfeeding, using a stress ball, or wearing virtual reality goggles—to help first-time mothers feel less pain and anxiety during episiotomy repair (stitching) after giving birth. About 120 women will be randomly assigned to one of these groups or standard care. Researchers will measure pain, anxiety, stress hormones, and comfort levels to see which approach works best.
